3xD Micro Carbide Drills for Precision Small-Hole Machining

The 3xD micro carbide drill series is designed for short, small-diameter holes requiring high rigidity, stable entry, consistent cutting edges, and accurate positioning. Its short working length helps reduce deflection and improve micro-hole stability. Because micro drills are highly sensitive to spindle runout, holder condition, chip congestion, coolant delivery, and workpiece clamping, precise machining conditions are essential for stable batch production and reduced breakage risk. Landun 3xD micro drills are available with material-specific geometries and coatings for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, titanium, and other precision engineering materials.

Frequently Asked Questions

They are used for short, small-diameter through holes, shallow blind holes, positioning holes, pre-tapping holes, and precision holes in compact mechanical, electronic, medical, automotive, and aerospace components.

Material-specific options are available for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and other engineering materials.

A pilot hole is not automatically required for every application. Direct drilling may be suitable on flat and stable surfaces. Curved, inclined, rough, or unstable entry surfaces may require spot drilling or another entry-preparation method.

Choose a 5xD micro drill when the required hole depth exceeds the effective drilling range of a 3xD tool. The machine, holder, coolant, and chip evacuation conditions should also be evaluated.

Yes. Landun can review non-standard diameters, special flute lengths, shank dimensions, point geometries, coating requirements, coolant configurations, drawings, samples, and replacement-tool projects.
