Product Overview

3xD Micro Carbide Drill —Engineered for Precision Titanium Alloy Micro-Hole Drilling

The 3xD micro carbide drills for titanium alloy are designed for small-diameter hole machining where heat control, edge strength, hole positioning, and tool breakage resistance are critical. Compared with standard carbide drills, micro drills are more sensitive to cutting heat, spindle runout, chip adhesion, and cutting edge consistency.

Titanium alloys such as Ti-6Al-4V, TC4, and Grade 5 titanium have low thermal conductivity, high toughness, and strong adhesion tendency during machining. In micro-hole drilling, cutting heat is concentrated around the small cutting edge, while chip adhesion and tool overload can quickly lead to burrs, hole deviation, poor surface quality, or premature drill breakage.

These micro carbide drills are manufactured from imported MG grade 0.8 μm tungsten carbide rods with 10% cobalt content, supporting high-speed cutting and small-diameter drilling stability. With HSR118 heat-resistant coating, manual drill point honing, automatic edge passivation, Walter Helicheck Plus inspection, and German Walter 5-axis grinding, the drills help improve heat resistance, reduce chip sticking, and maintain reliable micro-hole accuracy in titanium alloy components.

Engineering Details That Improve Titanium Alloy Micro-Drilling

Premium Carbide Material

Premium Carbide Material

Made from imported MG grade 0.8 μm tungsten carbide with 10% cobalt content.
The fine carbide grain structure helps support edge strength, rigidity, and stable micro-hole drilling in tough titanium alloy materials.

HSR118 Heat-Resistant Coating

HSR118 Heat-Resistant Coating

HSR118 coating is designed for titanium alloy machining where heat and adhesion are major challenges.
It helps reduce chip sticking, protect the cutting edge, and improve stability under high-temperature micro-drilling conditions.

Controlled Edge Passivation

Controlled Edge Passivation

The drill point is manually honed and chamfer-passivated to improve cutting edge strength.
Automatic rubber-bonded diamond abrasive polishing keeps edge consistency and controls the passivation value within ±0.003 mm.

High-Precision Grinding & Inspection

High-Precision Grinding & Inspection

Produced on German Walter 5-axis high-precision grinding machines to ensure sharp and accurate cutting edges.
Walter Helicheck Plus inspection and 300x magnification checks help control geometry accuracy and prevent edge defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

3xD means the drill is designed for hole depths up to 3 times the drill diameter. For micro drills, this depth is suitable for stable small-hole machining with better rigidity and positioning control.

Yes. These 3xD micro carbide drills are designed for titanium alloy materials, including Ti-6Al-4V, TC4, Grade 5 titanium, Grade 2 titanium, and other difficult-to-machine alloys under suitable machining conditions.

This micro carbide drill uses HSR118 heat-resistant coating, which helps improve heat resistance, reduce chip adhesion, and protect the cutting edge during titanium alloy micro-hole drilling.

Titanium alloys have low thermal conductivity, high toughness, and strong adhesion tendency. In micro-hole drilling, cutting heat and chip sticking can quickly affect hole accuracy, edge stability, and tool life.

Micro drills have very small cutting edges and are sensitive to chipping or uneven edge conditions. Controlled passivation helps strengthen the cutting edge, improve consistency, and reduce premature drill breakage.

Yes. Proper coolant support helps control cutting heat, reduce chip adhesion, and protect the cutting edge. The coolant method should be selected according to hole diameter, depth, machine condition, and titanium grade.

We use German Walter Helicheck Plus for contour measurement, with profile and radius control within 3 μm. The products are also inspected at 300x magnification to check edge appearance and avoid chipping or saw-tooth defects.

Yes. We support customization based on diameter, hole depth, shank size, coating, stainless steel grade, drawings, samples, and machining requirements.
