Product Overview

5xD Solid Carbide Drill —Engineered for Medium-Depth Aluminum Drilling

The 5xD carbide drill for aluminum is developed for medium-depth hole machining in aluminum, aluminum alloys, cast aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials. Compared with 3xD short-hole drilling, 5xD aluminum drilling requires more stable chip evacuation, better flute smoothness, and stronger control of chip adhesion over a longer drilling depth.

Aluminum materials often produce long and sticky chips during drilling. If chip evacuation is not smooth, chips may accumulate inside the flute, scratch the hole wall, increase cutting resistance, or cause built-up edge on the cutting edge. For this reason, a carbide drill for aluminum should use sharp cutting geometry, smooth flute design, and suitable coolant support.

This 5xD carbide drill is manufactured from imported MG grade 0.8 μm submicron tungsten carbide rods with 10% cobalt content. With optimized point geometry, sharp edge preparation, smooth flute structure, and internal or external coolant options, it helps improve hole quality, reduce chip clogging, and support efficient medium-depth aluminum drilling.

Frequently Asked Questions

5xD means the drill is designed for hole depths up to 5 times the drill diameter.

Yes. This drill is designed for aluminum and non-ferrous material drilling, helping improve chip evacuation, reduce chip adhesion, and maintain clean hole quality.

Aluminum is soft and sticky during machining, which can cause long chips, chip adhesion, built-up edge, and hole wall scratches. A suitable carbide drill needs sharp cutting edges, smooth flute geometry, and proper coolant support.

Internal coolant is recommended when chip evacuation and hole wall quality are critical, especially in medium-depth holes. External coolant versions are also available depending on machine conditions and drilling requirements.

It is suitable for aluminum, aluminum alloys, cast aluminum, 6061 aluminum, 7075 aluminum, 6082 aluminum, and other non-ferrous materials under suitable machining conditions.

Yes. We support customization based on drawings, diameter, hole depth, coolant method, surface treatment, flute design, and aluminum machining requirements.
