Product Overview

3xD Micro Carbide Drill —Engineered for Precision Cast Iron Micro-Hole Drilling

The 3xD micro carbide drills for cast iron are designed for small-diameter hole machining where edge strength, wear resistance, hole positioning, and tool consistency are critical. Compared with standard-size carbide drills, micro drills are more sensitive to cutting edge defects, spindle runout, unstable entry, and abrasive wear.

Cast iron materials such as grey cast iron, ductile iron, nodular cast iron, and compacted graphite iron are abrasive during machining. Powdery chips, hard casting skin, and uneven cast surfaces may accelerate cutting edge wear or cause micro-chipping. In micro-hole drilling, these problems can quickly affect hole accuracy, tool life, and batch machining stability.

These micro carbide drills are manufactured from imported MG grade 0.8 μm tungsten carbide rods with 10% cobalt content, supporting stable cutting performance and small-diameter drilling strength. With ALTISIXN coating, manual drill point honing, automatic edge passivation, Walter Helicheck Plus inspection, and German Walter 5-axis grinding, the drills help improve edge protection, wear resistance, and reliable hole quality in precision cast iron machining.

Engineering Details That Improve Cast Iron Micro-Drilling

Premium Carbide Material

Premium Carbide Material

Made from imported MG grade 0.8 μm tungsten carbide with 10% cobalt content.
The fine carbide grain structure helps support edge strength, wear resistance, and stable micro-hole drilling in abrasive cast iron materials.

ALTISIXN Wear-Resistant Coating

ALTISIXN Wear-Resistant Coating

ALTISIXN coating helps protect the cutting edge against abrasive wear in cast iron micro-drilling.
It supports longer cutting stability, reduces premature edge wear, and helps improve tool life in cast components.

Controlled Edge Passivation

Controlled Edge Passivation

The drill point is manually honed and chamfer-passivated to improve cutting edge strength.
Automatic rubber-bonded diamond abrasive polishing keeps edge consistency and controls the passivation value within ±0.003 mm.

High-Precision Grinding & Inspection

High-Precision Grinding & Inspection

Produced on German Walter 5-axis high-precision grinding machines to ensure sharp and accurate cutting edges.
Walter Helicheck Plus inspection and 300x magnification checks help control geometry accuracy and prevent edge defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

3xD means the drill is designed for hole depths up to 3 times the drill diameter. For micro drills, this depth is suitable for stable small-hole machining with better rigidity and positioning control.

Yes. These 3xD micro carbide drills are designed for cast iron materials, including grey cast iron, ductile iron, nodular cast iron, and compacted graphite iron under suitable machining conditions.

This micro carbide drill uses ALTISIXN coating, which helps improve abrasive wear resistance, edge protection, and cutting stability in cast iron micro-hole drilling.

Stainless steel has high toughness, poor thermal conductivity, and strong work-hardening tendency. In micro-hole drilling, cutting heat, edge wear, and chip control can quickly affect hole accuracy and tool life.

Cast iron is abrasive and often produces powdery chips. In micro-hole drilling, abrasive wear and edge chipping can quickly affect hole accuracy and tool life, so a wear-resistant coating and stable edge preparation are important.

We use German Walter Helicheck Plus for contour measurement, with profile and radius control within 3 μm. The products are also inspected at 300x magnification to check edge appearance and avoid chipping or saw-tooth defects.

We use German Walter Helicheck Plus for contour measurement, with profile and radius control within 3 μm. The products are also inspected at 300x magnification to check edge appearance and avoid chipping or saw-tooth defects.

Yes. We support customization based on diameter, hole depth, shank size, coating, stainless steel grade, drawings, samples, and machining requirements.
