30xD Deep Hole Carbide Drills for Extended Long-Hole Machining

The 30xD deep hole carbide drill series is designed for extended holes beyond the practical range of 15xD and 20xD drills. Its long flute supports depths of up to thirty times the drill diameter, while through-tool coolant channels improve heat removal and chip evacuation. Because 30xD drilling is highly sensitive to pilot-hole accuracy, runout, coolant stability, and machine rigidity, controlled entry, drilling, breakthrough, and withdrawal are essential. Material-specific geometries, coatings, flute designs, coolant configurations, and custom sizes are available for demanding deep-hole applications and stable production conditions.

How to confirm whether 30xD is suitable

Selection Factor Recommended for 30xD
Hole Depth Extended holes up to approximately 30× the drill diameter
Hole Type Through holes, blind holes, cooling channels, oil passages, manifold passages, and selected intersecting holes
Main Advantage Extended drilling reach with internal coolant and pilot-guided entry
Chip Evacuation Demand Requires controlled chip formation, clear flutes, and stable coolant flow
Hole Straightness Influenced by pilot accuracy, spindle runout, drill geometry, coolant, and machine rigidity
Typical Requirement Extended long-hole machining with controlled deviation and reliable chip evacuation

Frequently Asked Questions

They are used for extended through holes, blind holes, mold cooling channels, hydraulic passages, oil holes, crankshaft holes, and other demanding deep-hole applications.

A 20xD drill is shorter and normally more rigid. A 30xD drill provides greater reach but requires stricter control of pilot-hole accuracy, spindle runout, coolant, chip evacuation, tool holding, and machine movement.

Selected cross-hole applications may be possible, but the internal breakthrough, feed reduction, cutting-edge support, and drill geometry must be reviewed before machining.

A compatible pilot hole is normally required for 30xD drilling. The diameter, tolerance, point geometry, and pilot depth should follow the selected drill specification.

Yes. Landun can review non-standard diameters, flute lengths, shank dimensions, coolant-hole designs, point geometries, coatings, step structures, drawings, samples, and replacement-tool projects.
