Category Overview

12xD Deep Hole Carbide Drills for Stable Long-Hole Machining

The 12xD deep hole carbide drill series is designed for holes beyond the practical range of 3xD, 5xD, and 8xD drills. Its extended flute supports depths of up to twelve times the drill diameter, while internal coolant channels help remove heat and evacuate chips from the cutting zone. Because 12xD drilling is more sensitive to runout, chip congestion, coolant flow, and machine rigidity, correct tool selection and stable machining conditions are essential. Material-specific geometries, coatings, flute designs, and custom dimensions are available for different deep-hole applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

They are used for deep through holes, blind holes, oil passages, cooling channels, hydraulic manifold holes, mold cooling holes, and other long-hole applications.

Internal coolant is recommended for 12xD deep-hole drilling because it delivers coolant closer to the cutting edge and helps evacuate chips through the long flute.

Peck drilling should not be used automatically. The correct cycle depends on the drill geometry, workpiece material, coolant supply, chip formation, and manufacturer’s recommendation.

Material-specific options can be selected for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum alloys, titanium alloys, and other engineering materials.

Yes. Landun can review non-standard diameters, special flute lengths, shank dimensions, coolant-hole designs, point geometries, coatings, step structures, drawings, samples, and replacement-tool projects.
