60° Solid Carbide Spot Drill — Engineered for Precise Centering and Conical Features

The 60° carbide spot drill is designed to produce accurate conical positioning features, center recesses, shallow center holes, chamfers, and countersinks where a 60° included angle is required.

Its relatively sharp point creates a concentrated initial contact with the workpiece. Combined with a short and rigid carbide body, this geometry helps reduce positional movement and produce a clearly defined center feature.

The tool is suitable for selected CNC machining, automatic lathe, turning, drilling, and component-positioning applications. It can be used to prepare a 60° center recess before subsequent operations, machine a 60° chamfer, remove light burrs, or create a shallow countersink with controlled diameter and depth.

A 60° spot drill should not automatically be treated as a universal spotting tool for conventional 118°, 120°, 135°, or 140° drills. Because its point is considerably sharper, the following drill may contact the outer area of the spotted feature first. The spotting angle, depth, and subsequent drill geometry should therefore be reviewed before use.

For applications requiring a complete center hole with a pilot section and a 60° bearing surface for lathe-center support, a dedicated carbide center drill or customized center-hole tool may be more suitable.
