5xD Solid Carbide Drill —Engineered for Medium-Depth Stainless Steel Drilling

The 5xD carbide drill for stainless steel is developed for medium-depth hole machining where work hardening, cutting heat, chip control, and hole straightness are critical. Compared with 3xD short-hole drilling, 5xD stainless steel drilling requires more stable chip evacuation, stronger tool rigidity, and better heat control over a longer drilling depth.

Stainless steel materials such as 304, 316L, 17-4PH, and duplex stainless steel have high toughness, poor thermal conductivity, and strong work-hardening tendency. During 5xD drilling, chips must be removed smoothly to prevent heat buildup, cutting edge overload, and unstable hole quality.

This drill is manufactured from imported MG grade 0.8 μm submicron tungsten carbide rods with 10% cobalt content. With optimized point geometry, reinforced flute structure, self-developed high-performance coating, and controlled edge passivation, it helps reduce drill walking, improve chip evacuation, and maintain reliable drilling performance in stainless steel components.
