Product Overview

5xD Micro Carbide Drill —Engineered for Medium-Depth Steel Micro-Hole Drilling

The 5xD micro carbide drills for steel are designed for small-diameter hole machining where hole depth, chip control, tool rigidity, and edge consistency are more demanding than 3xD micro drilling. In 5xD micro-hole applications, the drill needs to maintain stable cutting performance over a longer drilling depth while reducing the risk of chip clogging, hole deviation, and tool breakage.

Steel micro-hole drilling requires precise geometry control, strong edge protection, and consistent edge preparation. Because micro drills have very small cutting edges and limited flute space, even minor runout, edge defects, or poor chip evacuation can quickly affect hole accuracy, surface quality, and tool life.

These micro carbide drills are manufactured from imported MG grade 0.8 μm tungsten carbide rods with 10% cobalt content, supporting high-speed cutting and stable small-diameter drilling. With ALTISIXN coating, manual drill point honing, automatic edge passivation, Walter Helicheck Plus inspection, and German Walter 5-axis grinding, the drills help improve edge stability, chip evacuation, and reliable medium-depth micro-hole quality in steel components.

Engineering Details That Improve Steel Micro-Drilling

Premium Carbide Material

Premium Carbide Material

Made from imported MG grade 0.8 μm tungsten carbide with 10% cobalt content.
The fine carbide grain structure helps support rigidity, edge strength, and stable drilling performance in small-diameter steel holes.

ALTISIXN Wear-Resistant Coating

ALTISIXN Wear-Resistant Coating

ALTISIXN coating helps improve wear resistance and edge protection during steel micro-drilling.
It supports stable cutting performance, reduces premature edge wear, and helps extend tool life in 5xD micro-hole applications.

Controlled Edge Passivation

Controlled Edge Passivation

The drill point is manually honed and chamfer-passivated to improve cutting edge strength.
Automatic rubber-bonded diamond abrasive polishing keeps edge consistency and controls the passivation value within ±0.003 mm.

High-Precision Grinding & Inspection

High-Precision Grinding & Inspection

Produced on German Walter 5-axis high-precision grinding machines to ensure sharp and accurate cutting edges.
Walter Helicheck Plus inspection and 300x magnification checks help control geometry accuracy and prevent edge defects.

Frequently Asked Questions

5xD means the drill is designed for hole depths up to 5 times the drill diameter. Compared with 3xD micro drills, it is suitable for deeper small-hole machining where chip control and tool rigidity are more important.

Yes. These 5xD micro carbide drills are designed for carbon steel, alloy steel, structural steel, pre-hardened steel, bearing steel, and other steel materials under suitable machining conditions.

This micro carbide drill uses ALTISIXN coating, which helps improve wear resistance, edge protection, and cutting stability in steel micro-hole drilling.

3xD micro drills are used for shorter and more rigid micro-hole drilling. 5xD micro drills are used for deeper small holes and require better chip evacuation, stronger process stability, and more careful runout control.

Micro drills have very small cutting edges and are sensitive to chipping or uneven edge conditions. Controlled passivation helps strengthen the edge, improve consistency, and reduce premature tool failure during deeper micro-hole drilling.

We use German Walter Helicheck Plus for contour measurement, with profile and radius control within 3 μm. The products are also inspected at 300x magnification to check edge appearance and avoid chipping or saw-tooth defects.

Yes. We can support 1:1 replacement projects for selected Korean and Japanese drill series according to customer samples, drawings, or required specifications.

Yes. We support customization based on diameter, hole depth, shank size, coating, steel grade, drawings, samples, and machining requirements.
